There are some jobs that people wear on their faces. People just know that you are someone they can talk with. It happens to our professional siblings, social workers, therapists and yes, chaplains.
In the resource linked below, a clinical social worker gets a young slacker on track, and gives him the tools and a reason to cry. So often the tears that flow after these one-off encounters are so surprising to the person, they are caught off guard. This is part of our call to be there, wherever.
