Chaplaincy and Popular Culture

How do we embrace, utilize and critique the impact of popular culture content on spiritual care? What can chaplains learn from Beyoncé, The Super Bowl, Taylor Swift, NASCAR and Kendrick Lamar?

Rev. Tom Chappell Lewis is a board certified chaplain ordained through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship who serves as a hospital chaplain in northeast Florida. In addition to Tom's experience in trauma, emergency, and pediatric chaplaincy, Tom has also served as the Bar Chaplain working in collaboration with a local brewery to host interfaith events and serve as a listening ear for patrons and staff. Tom's writings, which explore the intersections of pop culture and chaplaincy, can be found at www.barchaplain.com.
